Precision smallbore and air rifle target shooting

The ACT Smallbore Rifle Club offers a wide range of shooting opportunities that put a premium on precision and include using:

Smallbore rifle in several positions

.22 target rifles with 'peep' sights in prone (lying), standing and/or kneeling positions over 50m

• bulls-eye is about 1cm in diameter
• the vagaries of the weather can impact significantly on the .22 low velocity bullets used
• club competitions, and targets sent to external competitions, include 20 rounds fired prone
• competitions at other clubs (and our club's annual meet), state, national and Oceania championships and Masters games may include 60 rounds fired prone and 20 and/or 40 shots fired at each prone/standing/kneeling position (3 positional events)
• the 3x40 positional event is an Olympic Games event.

• the bulls-eye is a single point
• the weather usually has little impact on bullets' direction
• club competitions, and targets sent to external competitions, include 20 rounds fired prone
• competitions at other clubs (and our club's annual meet) and Masters games often include 60 rounds fired prone and a combination of 20 shots fired at each of 20m and 50m (and sometimes 90m).

Air rifle in standing position

• the bulls-eye is a single point
• the event is held indoors so the weather has no effect on the air pellets' direction
• club competitions include 30 rounds standing and targets sent to external competitions include 60 rounds standing
• competitions at other clubs (and our club's annual meet), state, national and Oceania championships and Masters games include 60 rounds fired standing
• a member of the club participated in this event at the 2004 Olympics.
